Postal & Mail Handling Service
Virginia Industries for the Blind (VIB) is the Prime Contractor operating the Postal Service Center, supporting approximately 8,000 military personnel for Langley Air Force Base six days weekly. The Postal Services Center receives express delivery packages, U.S. Government mail and United States Postal Service (USPS) mail. The service provided by the contract entails receiving, processing, distributing mail and directorizing mail, maintaining the base locator services, managing mail lockboxes / receptacles and providing customer services.
Contract Management Support
Virginia Industries for the Blind provides Contract Management Support (CMS) to the U.S. Army, the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), and the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) through the tasks associated in preparing DoD contracts for close-out. This service enables the U.S. Army, DLA, and DCMA to recoup unexpended funds from these contracts. VIB employees conduct research and analysis and all administrative actions required to achieve a ready to closeout Contract File.0
Switchboard Operation
Virginia Industries for the Blind (VIB) is the Prime Contractor to provide the Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Center in Salem, Virginia with staffing operating the switchboard. VIB operates the switchboard for three shifts every day of the year. Approximately 3,500 calls are taken daily for the 2,400 doctors, staff and permanent patients.
Navy Warehouse Services @ NS Norfolk
Under a Sub-contract with Management Consulting Inc. d/b/a MANCON, VIB provides warehouse and retail support at naval Station Norfolk’s Super ServMart, a commercial pier side warehouse providing services to the 75 ships homeported at the world’s largest naval base. VIB employees are engaged as point-of-sale clerks, computer operators, warehousing personnel, janitorial, quality assurance, and customer service staff in this 50,000 sq. ft. facility.
Court Debt Collection Service
The Virginia Industries for the Blind (VIB) is the prime party under a State Agency agreement to provide two Collection Representatives for the Court Debt Collection Office (CDCO). VIB employees are responsible for negotiating payment, collecting and resolving delinquent court debts through use of TAX's integrated telecommunications and Enhanced Collection System Software. They also conduct research in data bases from the Department of Motor Vehicles and the Virginia Employment Commission. During fiscal year 2015 VIB employees assisted in the collections of $45,100,878.64 from 241 court jurisdictions.
Supply Room & Procurement Service
Virginia Industries for the Blind (VIB) provides procurement services leading to the award of Federal Government contracts, contract negotiations and post-award vendor follow-up. VIB also provides stock clerk functions operating in-house Supply Rooms.
Kitting Service
VIB is currently assembling kits with specialized tactical medicine, land navigation, personnel recovery, air operations, advanced firearms, motorcade operations, and specialized tactics for various Department of Defense and Federal government customers. The actual components comprising the kits can easily be changed to match the specific needs of the customer and the designed purpose of the kit.
